How do I know what air filter size is right for me?

Look at the side of your current filter along the outside frame. If you don’t currently have an air filter you may measure the length and width of your return vent. Filter sizes are labeled by what’s called a nominal size. The nominal size is a rounded up number from the actual length and width measurement. For example a 19 1/2 x 19 1/2 x 3/4 has a nominal size of 20 x 20 x 1 that will be the size you look for when replacing your filter.

Where do I find my air filter return vent?

Each home varies, but usually your returns can be found in the ceiling, along a hallway, in a closet, and even sometimes outside with the HVAC system itself. If you have any trouble finding it just reach out to us and we will be happy to help!

What are the benefits of changing my air filters regularly?

Many of the benefits of changing your homes air filters on a consistent basis include healthy cleaner air, remove harmful toxins and bacteria, lower your energy bill, and help prevent expensive repairs to your HVAC system.

How often should I change my filters?

You can change them monthly, bi-monthly, or every three months depending on your living situation. If you don’t have allergies or any pets then 2-3 months would be ideal. If you have pets or allergies 1-2 months would be your best option for clean and healthy air.

What does MERV mean?

MERV stands for “Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value”. The higher the MERV rating, the more smaller particles make it through the filter which means more filtration and cleaner air!
